The Texas Veterans Land Board remembers the 76th anniversary of the Battle for Rome, and most notably the men of the Texas 36th Infantry Division. They had fought from the beach at Anzio to Rome, and on June 4, 1944, they opened the gates to the ancient city and found themselves hailed as heroes by the Italian people.
